Opening of new museum in Manzanillo

museumThe opening for a new pre-hispanic museum with dozens of pieces found by archeologist in the state of Colima and Manzanillo is planned for January 2015 by the Ministry of Culture.

The Secretary of Culture, Rubén Pérez Anguiano said that the staff of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), who are specialized in the art, will be assembling and setting up the archaeological pieces.

He explained that four million dollars of federal funds were obtained to install a prehispanic museum in the Library “Julia Piza” in Manzanillo, which will make this site an attraction for local and foreign tourists.

Pérez Anguiano said that the archaeological finds are always a topic of interest to tourists, especially foreigners, therefore envisaged that this project will be successful in Manzanillo and especially the harbor district.
